Want to really protect the NHS?  Get to the gym!

During this pandemic, we have all become familiar with the term ‘protect the NHS’ and we as an industry have a massive role to play in this.  However, we need to be given the chance to do so.  I believe that our government should be encouraging us to take part in exercise in the battle against COVID  for both our physical but perhaps more importantly our mental health.

Here at Kippie, I have never seen our gym so clean, yet attendance seems to be very low post lockdown.  Are members still scared to visit the gym as they think it is a ‘hotbed for germs’ as it has been described by various media sources?  This could not be further from the truth.

I cannot emphasise enough how great a job, not only the staff, but the members are doing to make sure that our gym stays clean and open!

We currently have a booking system that makes sure the gym is never overcrowded, scheduling hourly 15 minute cleaning slots, as well as the constant cleaning by gym staff.  Socially distanced gym equipment, hand sanitising stations and effective air conditioning all create a safe environment to exercise.

Exercise has been proved to reduce:

Coronary Heart Disease/Strokes by 35%

Lower risk of Osteoarthritis by 83%

Lower risk of Type 2 Diabetes by 50%

Lower risk of Colon Cancer by 50%

Lower risk of Depression by 30%

Lower risk of early Death by 30%

So, if you really want to protect our NHS long-term, don’t hide away….switch off the news and book a session in the gym – exercise and be healthy!  It will make a massive difference to not only our NHS but your physical and mental health.

If you have any queries or worries about returning to the gym please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Stay safe
