I’m a mechanical engineer by background and recently retired after a near forty year career in the Oil & Gas industry.
We first joined Kippie after moving to Peterculter in 2000. I was co-opted onto the Management Committee during COVID in 2020 and served as Vice Chair up until my election as Chair in May 2026.
Along with the previous Chair and Treasurer, I have been heavily involved in the preparation of the development plan over the last couple of years and I’m delighted to see ‘boots on the ground’ at the time of this update.
Kippie is a special place, and I look forward to helping write the next exciting chapter in its unique history.

As a committed, long-term member you’ll find me often on the golf course, tennis courts and in the gym (although my days of marathon training on the treadmill are over!).
I bring a wealth of relevant commercial expertise having held the CEO role in five venture capital-backed tech companies over the last 20 years. I bring experience in sports club management having served as President of Cults Tennis Club, Commodore of Aberdeen and Stonehaven Sailing Club and Vice Chair of Grampian Disability Sport. Those familiar with my roles know my teamwork and commitment to progress. While I initially voted against the new development due to concerns about the risks, I fully respect the democratic decision and am now determined to ensure its success and the long-term future of Kippie. I will be an active, involved Committee member listening to you – the members.

I first become a member of Kippie in 1982, returning in 2013 after 12 years working overseas. For the last 3 years I have been on the committee and played a key role in modelling the cash forecasts I presented at the SGM. As a recently retired accountant, I see it as important to have that financial experience on the committee. I am a keen golfer, and if you are at the gym pre-breakfast, you will often see me there. You can frequently see my family & I (The Cornettos!) at the quiz night…..often picking up the wooden spoon! I want to see Kippie flourish and despite being a “senior” member, I want to ensure the Club provides the full range of facilities that all types of members are looking for.

Come from a granite town in north wales, been a member since 2010 . Retired in 2016 so done a lot of volunteering including Kippie, parent council and scouts . As my kids are now through uni will be more of a snowbird in the future. Looking forward to finishing the development projects largely funded by the extra 5% fee rise we approved in 2024. Enjoy gym, golf, classes and pool . Eventually wales will start to win at rugby again , paid for too many dinners as result of the wales Scotland game.

Originally from Paisley and an ardent Buddies fan I came to Aberdeen in 1981 following University.
I spent 35 years working in the oil and gas industry for Bp where I covered roles in Production Chemistry, Completion design and well intervention, Reservoir and Petroleum Engineering jobs before a senior technical advisor in Global support.
I have been a Kippie member for over 30 years, enjoying the facilities with my family and now onto the next generation with my wee grandson. Kippie is a unique family friendly sports and social place which has given me many years of enjoyment.
I have been on the management committee for 8 years and as Chairman for the last six years, guiding the club through the difficult covid years and now embarking on a fantastic development plan which will make Kippie the place to be in years ahead

My name is Gerben Kuipers however I am better known as Herb. I am 50% Dutch and 50% British.
I have been a Kippie member for a long time and visit the club most days. I live in Bieldside and you probably have seen me cycling to and from Kippie.
I am married to Jane who also spends a great deal of time at Kippie. We have 2 children – 1 in Aberdeen and 1 in London.
My favourite activities at Kippie are tennis, Pilates and going to the gym. I also play a lot of golf with the Aberdeen Petroleum Club Golf Association (APCGA) and I am the captain thereof.
I am retired having spent my entire career with 1 large Oil & Gas operator company whose name starts with a S. During my career, I moved to Aberdeen 3 times and move away from Aberdeen 2 times. I now call Aberdeen home.

My name is Dawn McLean. I’m a Glaswegian who returned to Aberdeen, for the second time, in 2019. I’m a working Mum of 3 young boys of 6,5 and 6 months. I’m an NHS Physiotherapist with a passion for movement, strength, fitness, health and well-being.
We joined kippie as a family 3 years ago and I love it. It has allowed me to get back to feeling like myself again after having children and provides them with so many opportunities to try different sports, meet new friends and have fun!
As part of the committee I hope to continue to be able to represent the members, in particular those with young families. I’m excited to see the development progress and for Kippie to thrive.
I’m just returning to exercise after my last wee boy so you’ll catch me at kids activities, in the gym, the lodge or at the Mum and Baby Pilates class!

Jane and I joined Kippie when we moved to Milltimber 12 years ago and became Life Members when the club was raising cash 10 years ago.
I am a frequent user of many of the facilities of our club: being in the gym most days; participating in 10 classes most weeks including Pilates, yoga, circuits, spin and cardio tennis; a regular tennis player; and we enjoy Lodge events, in addition to the daily coffees!
From this I have a good appreciation of what’s important to a broad cross-section of members, from under-30s in the gym to grumpy old men on the tennis courts, and what niggles them!
I am a Chartered Engineer and spent most of my career in the oil and gas industry running a number of engineering companies that delivered major projects and operations support to operators. My current activity focuses on investing in and mentoring early-stage companies.
I love being at Kippie and it is important to me. That’s why I am on the committee to ensure that we develop our club and maintain it as a unique place to be.

I have been a member for the past five years and enjoy playing Squash, Racquetball and Golf here. I joined the Committee to learn more of the business – its successes and challenges, and to share my Business Development / Sales & Marketing experience when needed.
